Here we present the latest available information from Norway on economic, cultural and political matters. Our ambition is to convey to you as a visitor to our site a snapshot of modern Norway, of what we have to offer not only in cutting edge technology, but also in the creative arts, not only in fish and oil, but also in promoting womens rights and protecting the environment.
 
Norway is a country endowed with rich natural resources, with an open and well-functioning economy and with stable political institututions. We like to think that this, together with the fact that we depend more than most on trade and interaction with others, has inspired us to open up our society to the outside world, and build up an extensive programmme for helping countries in need, especially the poorest among them.
 
Norway wants to develop its bilateral relations with Israel. There have always been lively exchanges between us, but I believe there  certainly is room for more. We have traditions we can build on and develop further. Increased trade is one area, cultural exchanges is another. Both our countries are technologically advanced and, I believe, should therefore seek opportunities for cooperation in research and development.    
 
Norway has played an active part in the peace process between israelis and palestinians. The conflict has proved to be particularly intractable. But we firmly believe that mutually acceptable solutions can be found, and strongly support the Road Map for peace, the aim of which is two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace. Our diplomatic efforts, our strong support of the parties, our assistance and aid, are all geared towards that goal.
