• Musician, artist and au-pair
must attach a copy of their contract with the application form. A work permit does not entitle the holder to immigrate to Norway or acquire Norwegian citizenship.
The application form must be filled in at the country of your origin. Once the application has been sent to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration for processing, you are not allowed to enter Norway (even as tourist) until your permit has been granted.
There are special conditions concerning au-pairs from the Philippines. All documents submitted with the application are rountinely verified in the the Philippines;
1. Original birth certificate issued at the time of birth or within a short period after birth. Birth certificates should be issued at the time of birth or within a short period after birth. Late registered birth certificate is not acceptable unless a written explanation is attached regarding the non-submission of the original document.
2. Original baptismal certificate. Baptismal certificate should be issued the actual year of baptism, otherwise, a written explanation should be attached
3. Original school diploma or highest level achieved, or school record.
4. If married, original marriage contract
5. Original certification issued by the Comelec Office (National Central File Division) Re: Voters affidavit.
6. Photo coy of passport and/or any other valid identification card
7. If any; a copy of former visas given to Norway
8. An explanation letter or affidavit should be submitted if there are discrepancies on the documents submitted with the application.
Case processing time: approx. 6 months.
• Specialist
A foreign national, for whom no visa is required to Norway, can apply from Norway for a work permit as a specialist/researcher for a period up to 3 months. Application for a work permit as a specialist/researcher above 3 months must be applied for from country of origin. Case processing: approx. 1 - 3 months.
• Enterprise in Norway
An employer with an enterprise in Norway can apply for a work permit on behalf of the employee. The application must be handed in at the police station in the district of the business together with a written power of attorney from the employee to the employer
• Seasonal Work
A foreign national, for whom no visa is required, can apply from Norway for a work permit as seasonal worker, for a period up to 6 months.
It is a condition for a work permit for employment of up to 6 months’ duration that the applicant shall work within a seasonally regulated activity, or in connection with ordinary holiday arrangements, and that the relevant employment office gives consent in accordance with the directive laid down by the Directorate of Immigration after consultation with Directorate of Labour (A-etat).
A “seasonal activity” means an activity whose nature is such that it can only take place during a limited part of the year. Typical seasonal activities will be found within agriculture, forestry, fisheries and tourism.
Typical day-today work, such as carpentry, painting and other maintenance or renovation work, does not fall within this category. If there is any doubt as to whether an activity is a typical seasonal activity, the Employment Services’ main office (A-etat hovedkontor) may be contacted for an opinion.

Studying in Norway
To be granted a residence permit for studying in Norway, the applicant must have been admitted to a recognised educational institution. Students must obtain a residence permit before entering Norway, which is generally granted for one year.
The following documents must be submitted:
• Letter of Admission to a recognised educational institute.
• “Study Plan” form, received from the Embassy.
• “Financing Plan” form received from the Embassy.
• Documentation that the applicant has a place to live during the period of study.
• Travel documents (certified copy)
• If you have been accepted to a university, a Confirmation Letter from your bank stating that equivalent to NOK 80.000 is at your disposal.
• A bank account must be opened in Norway.
Please contact the bank by letter with enclosures: a certified copy of passport and a copy of letter of acceptance from the university.
A "D-number" must be acquired by the bank in Norway from the National Registry (personalregister) which can take up to 3 weeks, before a bank account can be opened in the student’s name.
The above amount must normally be transferred by 15th of August.
• If you have received a scholarship – a letter of confirmation must be attached. No transfer of money is needed.
Residence and Work Permit - Reunification Applicants for family re-unification should fill two “Application for a first-time residence permit or work permit” forms.
Please attach following documentation in duplo:
• 2 photos
• Copy of valid passport
• Copy of birth certificate, individual for each child
• Marriage certificate
Please bring all original documents
All documents must be translated into the English language.
• Copy of passport of the person in Norway with whom you are applying for reunification
• A statement that the person in Norway has minimum NOK 182.400 income to support the family.
• If the person has received asylum – no financial statement is needed.
• Proof of housing in Norway.
A Norwegian national, main person/reference person, must be registered residing in Norway in order for their spouse to be able to receive a residence and work permit in Norway, in addition to above points.
