The Clipa Aduma international festival for visual theater and performance art hosted this year the Norwegian dance company Jo Strømgren Company and their show “A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football”.
The performance delves into the physical routine of the greatest game on earth and elevates the aesthetic aspects of its insanity. It comments the artificial conflict between the “common sports” and the “eloquent arts” as well as the pride and prejudice surrounding the concept of working-class football and upper-class ballet.
Jo Strømgren is one of the most esteemed dance-theater directors in Europe, and has worked with such renowned institutions as the Vienna State Opera Ballet, the Royal Danish Ballet and the Norwegian National Ballet, among others.
The performances took place at the Na Lagaat hall in Jaffa Port, on Friday 16 July and Saturday 17 July.
