Karl Seglem, musician, composer and poet, plays the tenor saxophone and the goat horn (the Jewish traditional Shofar). His original tunes derive from the abandunt traditional Norwegian folk music carrying the scents of breathtaking landscapes and turquoise fiords.
Seglem (40) creates musical worlds that equally emphasize composition and improvisation. He presents a combination of jazz with the archaic pristine strength of folk music and straightforward lyric melody. This eclectic musical approach is open to African, Reggae and Pakistanian rhythm influences. While working on his recent album (the 27th), he chose to go to a desolated island with enough supplies and used the soothing silence of the woods to write new materials. This is how he endeavours to express through sounds what cannot be verbalized.
