Norwegian Mezzo-Soprano, Marianne Beate Kielland, Performs with The Israel Symphony Orchestra

Last updated: 26/01/2011 // Soloist Marianne Beate Kielland will perform Mahler’s "Rückert-Lieder" with The Israel Symphony Orchestra and conductor Shalev Ad-El in Tel Aviv and Rishon-LeZion in February 2011.

Marianne Beate Kielland, born in 1975, is a leading Norwegian opera singer. She has a master’s degree in contemporary music from The Norwegian Academy of Music and has been engaged at the State Opera in Hanover, Germany. From 2005 to 2009, she was the director of the contemporary music festival ILIOS in Harstad, Norway.

Kielland regularly works with Norway's best orchestras and choirs (including Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Norwegian Chamber Orchestra) and top international orchestras and choirs (such as Anima Eterna, Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, and Europa Galante). Her voice and performances have been praised by Norwegian and international critics.

"Marianne Beate Kielland has a flexible and full sounding voice which hits the musical language perfectly, a combination of insight and charisma which makes the musical expression natural and plain. So simple - and so difficult." Lars O. Flydal, Vårt Land.

Kielland has done more than 20 recordings, which include Bach, Martin, Beethoven, Haydn, and Lieder. She has performed with conductors like Jos van Immerseel, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Joshua Rifkin, and Christian Eggen, among others, and now she will perform with the well-known Israeli conductor Shalev Ad-El.

"Marianne Beate Kielland deserves a special mention for her glorious sound, the clarity of her diction, and her firm control of vocal registers." Peter J. Lawson.
