10/04/2008 // Relative to population size, the Nordic region has a large and rapidly developing private equity and venture capital industry. In recent years Nordic private equity funds have increased their search for investors beyond the Nordic markets.

 Norwegian private equity and venture capital companies are active within the following sectors ; IT/telecom, biotechnology/life science, oil-, energy- and environmental technology as well as expansion and buyout investments.

 The website of the Norwegian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (NVCA) provides an overview of venture capital and private equity in Norway and is a good starting point for foreign companies seeking to be acquainted with this sector in Norway. NVCA is an independent, non-profit association supporting the interests of companies and individuals who are active in the Norwegian private equity industry and venture capital sector.   NVCA’s main objectives are; to create a greater understanding of the importance of the private equity industry for new business formation and future growth; to build networks between private equity and venture capital companies in Norway and abroad; and to establish effective collaboration with communities which need the industry’s expertise, such as research teams and universities. Primary members of the association are independent professional investment companies and venture entities in corporate structure (Corporate Venture) with seed, venture or buyout investments as a substantial part of their business, and with a capital of at least 100 MNOK.
