Fjord Norway was put at the top of the list in National Geographic Traveler Magazine's survey of the 115 greatest unspoiled travel spots in the world. The panel who made the selection were experts in ecology, geography, urban and regional development, travel writing and photography, heritage conservation, archaeology and sustainable tourism
National Geographic Traveler Magazine is one of the world's most highly regarded travel magazines. The panel who made the selection was handpicked from among 200 seasoned travellers.
The experts were asked to evaluate places they knew personally, using six criteria to assess the destinations. The criteria were: ecological and environmental quality, social and cultural integrity, the quality of historical buildings and archaeological sites, aesthetic attractiveness, quality in tourism management and future prospects.
"Our vision is to position Fjord Norway as Europe's most attractive destination for nature and adventure holidays, and this accolade is an important confirmation that we are on the right track," says Fjord Norge AS/Fjord Norway.
